Later, as we got older and my father was satisfied that we would act responsibly by ourselves, we just had to tell him or my mother where we were. Being a bit disorganized myself, I was enthralled. Finn was a meticulous note-taker, and he had a shelf of bound notebooks that detailed literally every bullet that had gone down the bore of every rifle he had ever owned, and every rifle used by a client in his presence. Regarding game animals, his notes detailed shot placement, bullet performance, animal reaction, and, if possible, appearance of recovered bullets.
